Colourworks Joins the Defib Hero Program to Enhance Community Heart Health

At Colourworks, we are proud to announce our participation in the Defib Hero program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving heart health and emergency preparedness in our community. By joining this program, we are taking significant steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our neighbours, friends, and families.

What is the Defib Hero Program?

The Defib Hero program is an innovative community Heart Smart initiative designed to reduce heart-related deaths through comprehensive AED (Automated External Defibrillator) location mapping and training. This program, founded by Guy Leech of Heart180, draws on successful pilot programs from Australia and follows best practices established in Seattle, USA.

Key Components of the Program

  • AED Registration
Encouraging the registration of all local AEDs on the Defib Hero app to ensure they are easily locatable in emergencies.
  • Online Training
Promoting free online training for the community to increase awareness and comfort in using AEDs.
  • Community Engagement
Collaborating with local councils, schools, emergency services, businesses, and community groups to build a robust support network.

Our Involvement

As part of our commitment to community health, Colourworks will actively support the Defib Hero program by:

  • Installation at Our Office Locations
Newcastle, Central Coast, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Lismore.
  • Raising Awareness
Utilising our platforms to spread the word about the importance of AED registration and training.
  • Participating in Campaigns
Engaging in media campaigns to promote the program and encourage community participation.

Impact of the Program

The Defib Hero program has already shown significant results in its pilot phases. For example, in Shoalhaven, the program identified 22 AEDs, addressed battery and warranty issues and highlighted the need for greater accessibility and training. Similarly, in Bundaberg, the initiative registered 36 AEDs, installed new outdoor units, and achieved substantial media reach.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We invite everyone in the community to join us in this life-saving initiative. By participating in the Defib Hero program, you can help ensure that AEDs are accessible and that more people are trained to use them, potentially saving lives in critical moments.

At Colourworks, we believe that every step towards better heart health and emergency preparedness can make a huge difference. Our involvement in the Defib Hero program is a testament to our dedication to community well-being. Stay tuned for updates on our activities and how you can get involved.
